There are 5 different types of profiles, which are Basic, Social,
Professional, Dating, and Contact Info. Access to each profile can be controlled from
Settings page. You can also control field level access to many fields while editing your
profile types.
You can go to the Settings
page by clicking on Settings link on the main
navigation, in header. There under Privacy Settings section you can check appropriate boxes
to provide access to each profile to whichever group you want. To make your experience easy,
we have included some shortcuts to quickly check all or clear all checkboxes under it. For
example:
- Checking/unchecking the top most box under Primary Friends heading will check/uncheck all
the boxes in that column.
- Checking the top most box under Everyone including Public heading will check all the
boxes in that column which in turn will check all the boxes available. But unchecking it
will only clear all the boxes under Everyone including Public heading. This is the
expected behavior as you may still want to keep all Primary and Secondary options selected.
For many fields, field level security has been provided which lets you
control which group can access those fields. This can be used in addition to profile level
security in settings page to fully let you control access to all your profile types. By
default all the field level security are private, so nobody can see them until you give
appropriate group access to those fields. For example:
- You can check the box under everyone for a field to make that field accessible to all
register yocial members (public).
- You can check the boxes under Primary Friends, Primary Colleagues to provide access to a
field, only to contacts in friends and colleagues groups.
- Primary Friends: It means all your direct contacts under Friends group.
- Primary Colleagues: It means all your direct contacts under Colleagues group.
- Primary Dating Interests: It means all your direct contacts under Dating group.
- Secondary Contacts: It means all the direct contacts of your primary contacts.
- Everyone: It means all the users of the site including guests.
